Pre-registration Information
What is pre-registration?
We will be using a system of "pre-registration" where students register for the courses they will be studying in the following academic year. This enables us to compile the timetable for next academic year, and to reduce the amount of administration in September for returning students.
For students where there is a full list of compulsory modules, these modules will be automatically entered into the University's system for you.
For those students who have some choice about the modules they take, it is your responsibility to make sure that you enter your choices into the University's system. You will have from Tuesday 4th May at 9.00am until Friday 7th May at 5.00pm to make your choices in the S3P system. (Note that these dates have been changed to allow for students with travel problems.) Messages from Student Progress are being sent to you about how to do this. (See below for more information.)
To make your choices you will need to read information about:
- the options available to you in the Regulations part of the Degree Programme Handbooks for 2010-11 at: http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/teaching/handbooks/current/
- the individual modules at: http://www.ncl.ac.uk/internal/module-catalogue/, or http://www.cs.ncl.ac.uk/modules/external/ for modules external to the School.
- G500/G504 students must read the advice for G500/G504 students at pre-registration
- G600/G603 students must read the advice for G600/G603 students going into Stage 3
- Information sessions about Business School modules are on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd April see http://www.ncl.ac.uk/nubs/current/ug/modselect/timetable.htm
Copies of the slides from the pre-registration briefings are available:
- for all current Stage 1 students entering Stage 2
- for all current Stage 2 Computing Science students entering Stage 3
- for all current Stage 2 Information Systems students entering Stage 3
Having read the above information, you may still need to discuss your options with your tutor or another member of staff.
Changing Course? Want to do something unusual?
It may be that you are considering taking an unusual module (i.e. one not specified in the regulations) or changing your degree programme for the next Stage. In this case, you will need signed agreement from Dr Alan Tully, the Degree Programme Director, to allow you to do this. You must contact Dr Tully not later than Friday 23rd April if you wish to do this.

AND FINALLY...
Please do not leave it until the last moment to complete your submission - you might find that the choices are more complicated than you thought and you might need some advice or help.
